
Climbing
According to The Lands Council, there are nine climbing areas within a twenty-minute drive of Spokane. All of the information and recommendations on this page on climbing have come from other sources as we are not the most experienced in this subject, however we hope that this can still be beneficial and lead you to some other great sources on climbing.

Minnehaha:
Minnehaha is considered Spokane’s oldest and most popular climbing area. There are 70 climbing and 100 bouldering routes. For more information check out https://www.mountainproject.com/area/105933411/minnehaha

Dishman:
Dishman is a great climbing location for anyone looking for something kid-friendly. Here there are 38 routes to choose from. Dishman is located in the Dishman Hills Natural Area between Spokane and Spokane Valley. For more information, check out https://www.mountainproject.com/area/106277774/dishman

Cliff Drive:
Cliff Drive is located right in town and has 20 different routes to choose from. This climbing area is basalt, formed from cooling lava. This area offers a very different climbing experience than most areas in the Northwest. This area is perfect for those who do not have time to drive far out of the city. Rocks of Sharon:
Rocks of Sharon features over 60 routes with a fairly steep hike to get to the approach. Rocks of Sharon is considered to have some of the best views and scenery of the Palouse and Eastern Washington. The rocks feature a variation of mixed climbs and some bouldering. McLellan:
A newly developed area located 30 miles west of Spokane that features over 80 routes with wide variety. This area also includes bouldering. This area now requires a Discover Pass, and can be somewhat difficult to reach, so make sure you come prepared. Deep Creek:
The last area that we will be featuring on our site is Deep Creek, located in Riverside State Park. This area has over 60 routes and is kid friendly. Deep Creek is unique in that it features basalt compared to typical granite. Mountain Project considers it the best sport climbing in the area, and also one of the most challenging routes.
